What are the best role-playing games? Sometimes it is not the game that shines, but the players. Deep gameplay and glistening visuals only go so far in making a standout multiplayer game; only humans can provide the surprise and scheming that transforms the average first-person shooter or puzzle game into a gladiatorial showdown or co-op crusade.

1. Conan Exiles

Conan Exiles is an online survival game either played from the first-person or third-person perspective. While the title features numerous characters and mysteries to uncover, it still revolves around gathering resources, learning new schematics, and crafting better gear or shelter. Starting off with nothing more than a stone house, you’ll eventually be able to build entire cities with dangerous siege weaponry.

Conan Exiles will leave early access and launch in both digital and retail stores on May 8, 2018. The game is an open world survival game set in the brutal lands of Conan the Barbarian. The title is currently available on PC early access and Xbox Game Preview where it’s still in a somewhat rough state.

Conan Exiles will also launch on PlayStation 4 on May 8. For more information, you can access this link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/440900/Conan_Exiles/.

2. MapleStory 2

Nexon America announced today that its free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) MapleStory 2 will have a closed beta in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania territories. The beta will start on May 9.

MapleStory 2 has been out in a test form in South Korea, Nexon’s home country, since 2015. The original MapleStory came out for PC in 2003 and has attracted millions of players over its long life. While the original is a 2D game, MapleStory 2 features 3D environments.

As the original MapleStory aged, its daily active users were overtaken by cheaters and spammers. If you stroll into the town called Henesys where many characters stand idly while their real-life counterparts get up for a walk or to get a beverage, or to the Free Market where people trade, you’ll find that spam takes up most of the general chat, and it’s hard to get a word in edgewise.

When hunting bosses that drop rare items, you may find cheaters running third-party programs to automatically take the items before you can reach them.

3. Lost Ark

Lost Ark is a Korean-made action-RPG that looks a lot like Blizzard’s Diablo 3 – with a raft of fancy bells and whistles layered on top. It’s published by Smilegate, the Korean company behind the Oliver twins’ latest game, SkySaga, and is developed by Tripod Studio.

Lost Ark, a 3D massively-multiplayer online role-playing game offers an immersive action-centric playing style and adopts a non-targeting combat system and a dynamic quarter-view angle to maximize the game experience.

The whole world is in chaos from the attack of Kazeros’ demon army, as Kazeros opens the Chaos Gate with his six legions to invade the human world. Like a legend that exists in myths, the world has become a place where there are no heroes and everyone has forgotten about the Ark that defeated the demons in the past.

Now, the player must venture the vast world of the Lost Ark to gather the pieces and go against the demon army. The one force that can stand up against the demons! The Lost Ark.

4. Will to Live

Last April, The AlphaSoft studio is happy to announce its MMO shooter with RPG elements Will to Live is now in early access on Steam.

Will to Live is a post-apocalyptic MMORPG in the world that survived a global catastrophe. Today it’s inhabited by mutants and filled with mysterious anomalous zones. Player’s chief goal is simple: you must survive. You can do it on your own or join a clan. Fight for territories, raid bosses or simply engage in a short PvP session.

Will to Live reveals the idea of lives in a world, filled with contaminated wastelands, where a player is forced to explore anomalies, fight mutants — and then enjoy guitar by a campfire. The key difference between Will to Live from similar games is the well-thought-out system of fractions battles for the territory. The main battles unfold not just between players and clans, but between the whole factions — for resources and territories with bases located on them.

Survival in the world of Will to Live this is a real challenge. Your character needs to sleep, eat, craft necessary items, and fight other characters.

Players may choose one of the four classes, each of which has a distinctive group role, its own equipment, and weapons. Sets of weapons are unique for each class. All weapons in Will to Live feature true-to-life ballistics.
